Family
Spouse
- Parmelia Farney (Working Hypothesis) 1a,1b — No marriage record located. Identified as Joshua's wife via the 1850 and 1860 census, both enumerating her in his household. Her identity as 'Parmelia' rests on a presumed match with 'Milly Woodruff,' as son John Farney Woodruff's page records his mother — see Open Research Questions, below.
Children
- (see Parmelia Farney's page for full list with Joshua Woodruff) — Children of Joshua and Parmelia (believed to be 'Milly' on John Farney Woodruff's page) are documented on Parmelia Farney's page: John Farney Woodruff, Mary E. Woodruff, Milla Woodruff, and Albert Woodruff. Joshua's presumed second marriage produced additional children — George, Ben, and Edward Woodruff, per John's 1939 obituary — not yet documented here.
Open Research Questions
- Is Parmelia Farney the same woman recorded as 'Milly Woodruff,' Joshua's wife, on son John Farney Woodruff's page? Birth year (c. 1820) and death location (Greenfield Township, Gallia County, Ohio — the same township where Joshua and Milly were enumerated together in 1860) are consistent, but no source yet names her under both forms, and 'Milly' as a period nickname for 'Parmelia' is unconfirmed.
